The Dancing for Diabetes SHOW

As part of our mission to elevate awareness of the impact that Type 1 Diabetes has on nearly 1.25 million American children and adults – Dancing for Diabetes holds an annual benefit show featuring award winning and nationally recognized performers creating an evening of entertainment and hope. Now in our 19th year, the show has grown in magnitude and impact since its humble beginnings in a middle school dancer’s driveway Until a cure is found, Dancing for Diabetes is passionately committed to the fight against diabetes.

The 19th Annual Dancing for Diabetes Show will take place on November 9, 2019 at the Bob Carr Theater.

Group Auditions Now Open

Be part of Central Florida’s Premier Evening of Entertainment and Hope, all for a Cure for Type 1 Diabetes!

Dancing for Diabetes spreads awareness through the art of dance to better educate the community, raise funds to find a cure and inspire those with diabetes to live healthy and active lives. The show highlights the extraordinary talent across Florida for an evening of entertainment and hope!

The 19th annual show will take place on Saturday, November 9th at the Bob Carr Theater in downtown Orlando. Dress Rehearsal is mandatory for all dancers; additional details to follow for those selected.

Virtual auditions are open to groups of at least 5 dancers. Groups are to submit video of the specific routine(s) to be considered as part of the show. Groups are welcome to audition up to 5 routines, each to be considered individually. Routines must be family friendly appropriate in terms of choreography, music and attire. The exact choreography, music and attire intended to be performed in the show must be through the virtual audition. Routines should be no longer than 4 minutes in total length. Routines should feature high levels of precision, creativity, style, technique, musicality and showmanship.

Selected groups will be notified around October 1st and are expected to promote the show to their networks on social media and other avenues to contribute toward the show’s mission of spreading awareness and raising funds toward a cure for type 1 diabetes.

How to Virtually Audition:

  • Complete the group registration form to the right
    • Be sure to copy/paste a video link (YouTube, Vimeo, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) of each routine into the online registration form. A maximum of 5 routines may be submitted per group and each will be judged individually.
  • All groups must register and virtually audition by September 27th.

2018 Dancing for Diabetes Show

The 18th Annual Dancing for Diabetes showcase, held at the Bob Carr Theater on November 102018, drew a record crowd of over 1,500 guests and featured hundreds of Central Florida dancers – using their talents raising funds to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes.  During the event, hosted by WFTV Meteorologist Brian Shields, a check for $100,000 was presented to the Diabetes Research Institute – the only national organization solely devoted to developing a biological cure for diabetes.  View Press Release
